Sappi Moves To Oxford Road Headquarters In Rosebank
Sappi, being one of our oldest global companies, and a leader in the global supply of sustainable wood fibre products, has relocated its regional and global headquarters to a new site on the corner of Oxford and 14th Avenue in Rosebank, Johannesburg. They are the sole tenant of the 4 500m² Barrow Properties development, which forms part of the greater Oxford & Glenhove Precinct.
With just more than 200 Sappi employees making the new building their new home, the development continues to deliver incredible returns to Barrow Properties. Sappi’s Group Head of Corporate Affairs, Andre Oberholzer, explained that the property fit the organisation’s requirements for premises that provides a conducive environment for staff members, but a property which is also well appointed, featuring a minimal environmental footprint with regards to energy consumption.
“Sappi had been headquartered in Braamfontein for many years but, following a restructuring exercise, the premises no longer suited us. We decided to look for a fit-for-purpose building that would offer employees convenience in terms of accessibility and location,” says Oberholzer.
Ideal Locale Near Rosebank’s Key Routes
The property is conveniently situated near to a juncture of two key Rosebank routes, Glenhove Road and Oxford Road. This location also provides a central point for Sappi’s staff, whose homes are evenly spread between Johannesburg’s southern, northern, western and eastern suburbs. Additionally, off ramps and on ramps to the N1 and M1 motorways being a mere few kilometres away, commuting is a breeze.
For those who prefer not to drive, the Gautrain is also only a few kilometres away. This makes commuting even easier. In fact, the proximity to the Gautrain was another major consideration for the relocation, along with the easy commute to the airport. It just shows what goes into the decision making process of large multinational companies when shopping around for new and world-class premises.
